Introduction
The Nurse Educator concentration blends core nursing courses with education theory and practice. In conjunction with faculty members from the School of Education and Human Services, nursing faculty assist students with obtaining practical teaching experience and knowledge in this specialty. As a result, UM-Flint graduates will be qualified for faculty positions, staff nurse educator positions and other teaching roles.
In addition to focusing on the graduate-level nursing requirements, this program includes coursework in curriculum design, teaching methods, educational needs assessments, and learner-centered theories and methods. Graduates of the MSN program will demonstrate a set of nurse educator competencies including facilitating student learning and development, assessment and evaluation, instructional technologies, and more. Our students will be highly prepared to sit for the Certification for Nurse Educators (CNE) offered by the National League for Nursing.
