Introduction
The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification that prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you. There is no upper age limit for Access to HE courses, and these can be completed in one year, on a part-time basis.
The diploma at Redcar & Cleveland College includes: Access Research Project, Researching and Understanding, Opportunities for Higher Education, Psychological Aspects of Health, Professional Health Care Skills, Health Promotion, Human Biology, Value-Based Health Care, Maths at Level 2 and 3.
You will learn through class sessions, which involve lectures and demonstrations. Interactive learning will include using IT and the virtual learning environment (VLE). Learners are supported and encouraged to develop independent learning techniques.
Successful applicants apply to the university for a place on a range of health and social care related degrees. These include nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, dental nurse, and physiotherapist. You can also progress onto the Cert HE in Social Care, which is delivered at the College.
