Bachelor with a Major in Pre-Medical Erskine College

We understand your determination and drive to enter the medical profession. That’s why our faculty members meet regularly and work closely with our students to help them succeed. Members of our faculty include one with a medical degree and another who works in the field of MCAT preparation; they have firsthand experience to assist you in all phases of the medical school planning and application process. You will also receive support from your advisor, who will help you plan your four-year program at Erskine. Planning ahead will help you minimize scheduling conflicts, enabling you to reach your goals.

Most medical and dental school students major in Biology or Chemistry because many of the prerequisite courses are built into the programs; however, this is not a requirement. Students with any major may be considered if they have demonstrated a good background in the sciences and a strong academic record. To develop the knowledge and skills you need, and to demonstrate your ability for advanced study, we recommend a rigorous course load with at least two science and/or mathematics courses during each semester for the first three years.
