The Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing is a consortium of Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University. Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing is the only intercollegiate program in the nation that serves two private universities. At Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, you will learn the art, science and spirit of this honourable profession.
As a member of the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing family, you will be in a cohort of students from both Hardin-Simmons and McMurry. On your journey to earning an undergraduate or graduate-level nursing degree, you will have the opportunity to experience nursing in some of the area’s premier healthcare agencies, participate in interactive courses, perfect your skills in a state-of-the-art clinical simulation laboratory, and join nursing organizations. Our partnerships with community organizations and nurses will expose you to a wealth of expertise and highlight numerous nursing specialities.
Your student academic record is maintained and your degree is also conferred by either the parent university Hardin-Simmons University or McMurry University. What this means for our bachelor of science in nursing students is that you will follow either Hardin-Simmons or McMurry’s general education requirements, completing them at that parent university. Then after those first two years, you apply to the nursing program to complete the nursing major requirements at Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing.
