Introduction
The School of Nursing's Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the safe, effective, and efficient advanced practice of nursing. Please consult the State Authorization Reciprocity information for online degree programs. The online MSN program uses a variety of teaching strategies designed to actively engage students. Two-day orientation sessions are held on campus before the beginning of each fall semester to enhance the connections among students and with the nursing faculty.
The MSN program builds on the education of a clinical practice generalist and prepares an advanced practice nurse. The educational experience prepares students to validate and expand research findings through application of theory and scientific inquiry. Graduates are expected to function collaboratively and independently in an advanced practice role with various populations and primary care settings.
