Master of Science in Health Care Management
The Master of Science degree in Health Care Management assists people presently or previously employed in healthcare to develop the necessary managerial skills and awareness of recent innovations in health care delivery systems in order to fulfill the responsibilities of management positions in the industry. The program’s unique interdisciplinary character permits students to take courses in many disciplines, including management, nursing, marketing, computer information systems, accounting, finance, health science, and others.
Admission to the Program
In addition to university requirements for admission to CSULA for graduate study, the Health Care Management program requires a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 in the last 90 quarter units (60 semester units) attempted. In addition, the program requires one or more years of work experience in healthcare and two letters of recommendation.To apply for admission to the program, applicants should send the following:
A cover letter addressed to the coordinator, M.S. Health Care Management program, College of Business and Economics, requesting admission to the program, indicating the quarter and year in which applicant intends to enroll if admitted, with information on the applicant’s GPA and work experience.
A résumé that documents a minimum of one year of work experience in healthcare.
A statement of the applicant’s career objectives, indicating why the applicant is pursuing the degree.
Two letters of recommendation, preferably from persons who have supervised the applicant’s work in a healthcare setting. Applicants should apply to the University and the M.S. Healthcare Management program at the same time.
Admissions to Masters of Science in Health Care Management
Admission to the M.S. in Health Care Management program in the College of Business and Economics is a two-step process. Students must first be admitted to the University and then must satisfy the College's requirements for admission to graduate programs.For admission to the University, applicants must have:
Submit an official CSU Graduate Application to the University.

A baccalaureate from an accredited institution, or equivalent academic preparation as determined by Admissions and University Outreach or another appropriate campus authority.
Two official transcripts, which must include verification of the bachelor's degree.
A grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 (4.0=A) in their latest 90 quarter (or 60 semester units) units attempted and good standing at the last college attended.
A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 79 (internet based test), 213 (computer version) or 550 (paper version) for those applicants who earned a bachelor's degree to a school where English was not the principal language of instruction.
In addition to University requirements for admission to CSULA for graduate study, the M.S. Health Care Management program requires a 2.75 or better grade point average (GPA) in the last 90 quarter units of undergraduate studies. (90 quarter units are equivalent to 60 semester credits.) In addition, the program requires one or more years of work experience in healthcare, and two letters of recommendation.Domestic students should apply to the M.S. Health Care Management program after acceptance by the University to graduate studies. International students should apply to the University and the M.S. Health Care Management program at the same time.
