The degree program is aimed at those who wish to work as self-employed music practitioners entitled music therapists under the Austrian Music Therapy Act. Scientifically trained music therapists are of particular importance for structuring the professional field as a scientific discipline. After being entered in the list of music therapists, you are also able to open your own practice and work on a medical, psychological or psychotherapeutic assignment, in particular in the following areas: neurology and neuro-rehabilitation, geriatrics, psychosomatics, psychiatry, palliative medicine, intensive care and disability and developmental delay. Details about the study
The master's program Music Therapy at the IMC FH Krems is unique in Austria, because it was set up according to Bologna criteria. On the one hand, the curriculum focuses on communicating research competences in clinical fields and on the other hand on deepening therapeutic competences and on the ability to work together with other health professionals.
You develop your musical-therapeutic skills further and engage in research-guided practice. Another highlight is the combination of practical therapeutic and self-reflective competences with needs-based scientific research. They implement this with the implementation of a research project that deals with clinically relevant issues of music therapy.
