The Florida State University College of Medicine carefully selects students who are outstanding academically and are committed to the college's mission of service to Florida's medically underserved populations. FSU medical students come from all over Florida and are culturally diverse. Many come from small towns and rural areas, but the state's major metropolitan areas are also well represented. A number of students are older than average for medical school and bring a broad range of professional and life experiences, while others come straight out of undergraduate programs. Most are active in student organizations, community service projects and medical outreach programs. -

The TTUHSC El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health-El Paso Regional Campus (UTSPH) offer a dual degree option leading to a medical degree (M.D.) and a Master in Public Health (M.P.H.). This option provides students who are matched to attend the PLFSOM with the opportunity to consider this M.D./M.P.H. track. This track will minimize duplication in course content, maximize efficiency of academic interactions and reduce time and costs incurred compared to earning the degrees independently. Students in this M.D./M.P.H. track will be enrolled separately in both universities and receive two separate degrees awarded by both institutions upon successful completion of this dual program. -

Accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), our progressive four-year curriculum is designed to prepare students to practice the science and art of dentistry while introducing the various aspects of specialty care. The early curriculum focuses on preparing the student for the supervised delivery of dental care through our holistic approach of integrating the behavioral, biomedical, and clinical sciences. We believe that early clinical activities are essential for student development. As such, our students participate in clinical activities beginning with their first term. In addition, our biomedical science education is among the top in the nation. It is organized by organ system to better help students make the vital connection between biomedical science knowledge and clinical practice. Major time is devoted to the biomedical sciences with an emphasis on integrating this knowledge into clinical care as well as the preclinical dentistry laboratory where students master the hands-on component of dental care. -

Passage of the osteopathic medical licensing (board) exams, the COMLEX USA Level 1, Level 2CE (Cognitive Evaluation), and Level2 PE (Performance Evaluation), are required for graduation from Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. The College’s academic curriculum is designed to prepare students to enter the practice of osteopathic medicine and to complete the requirements of entering medical residency training. In addition to curricular content and instruction, Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine provides supplementary resources for students to use to enhance their ability to perform on the COMLEX exams. The resources provided by the College include: the use of board-style questions in instruction, discussion, formative assessments, and/or course examinations to familiarize and assist students in understanding how to approach the type of questions they will experience on their medical licensing (board) exams; the Kaplan Medical Education Integrated Plan, which includes approximately 50 instructional/review videos, interactive learning activities, a bank of board-style questions, and practice board exams for use in the study and preparing for their medical board. This resource is supportive of both the COMLEX USA Level 1, and the USMLE Step 1, exams taken by many osteopathic medical students, and is available for students in their first and second curricular years; the COMBank TrueLearn SmartBank Plan, which provides students osteopathic medicine-focused board preparation through the use of practice exams, a bank of study questions mapped to COMLEX exam topics and supporting materials to aid in topical study and clarification of concepts. This resource is supportive of both the COMLEX USA Level 1 and Level 2 exams, and is available for students in their second and third curricular years; a series of faculty-provided seminars onboard study, board preparation, exam-taking skills, and case-based/question-based discussions on how physicians approach clinical problems. These seminars are designed to enhance students’ development of cognitive and reasoning skills essential in medical practice and are recorded and posted for students’ access. -
