International student start dates
For new international students, orientation events start on 14 September 2018. This extra time is specifically designed to assist new international students in settling into the UK and GCU prior to the start of general student induction and teaching.
There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus and city tours, as well as welcome events where you can meet other international students.
We use a wide range of learning and teaching methods to ensure that you have both the necessary knowledge and understanding of business and management and a portfolio of intellectual and personal skills.
Each module on the programme uses its own learning, teaching and assessment strategy to achieve learning objectives. Assessment methods vary between modules and may include unseen examinations, class tests, essays, management reports, case studies, presentations, and group work.
We embrace emerging learning technologies, including the University’s Virtual Learning Environment GCU, Learn which is used to allow learning and teaching to be delivered flexibly and this is complemented by student engagement technologies such as Textwall. The programme is underpinned by clinical and academic expertise and promotes a student-centered ethos that supports the development of autonomous and contemporary practitioners who can make a positive contribution to interprofessional approaches to health care delivery.
We use lectures, tutorials, Clinical Skills Simulation, online lectures, seminars and asynchronous discussions. A range of assessment methods will be used that are appropriate to the content and mode of delivery of each module.
The Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Centre, a fully equipped simulated home, and hospital environment, situated on campus, is used to provide opportunities for the development and practice of clinically focused psychomotor and psychosocial skills in a safe, supported and highly effective learning environment.
Digital recording equipment is situated above every bed area which enhances feedback on students’ performance by allowing students to review their own performance.
